My typical work day consisted of analyzing work streams to find abnormalities in production output and find solutions to resolve them within a short time span (24h resolve).
On the long term, I was looking for opportunities for business improvements following LEAN principles.
My role also required to assist with improving co-operation between the departments Quality Assurance, Process Engineering & Operations by being part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of colleagues from these departments.
The most difficult part of the job was to cope with the different business interests of departments and merge them into a single project goal. The job involved a lot of politics and opinions.
What I did not like was the feeling that management did not shield employees effectively from the politics. Also I found management too little involved in directing and steering my department (here lies an opportunity for improvement).
The part of the job I enjoyed most was bringing improvements to the factory floor with operators and celebrating our success together.
Extensive in-house knowledge about eye science, product & production techniques
insufficient communication about the company's course
