I worked both behind the counter and in the store in 2015-2016.
I had four planned hours every friday from 5 o'clock til 9 o'clock in the evening. Besides those hours, the company sometimes asked me to work during holidays, free days and sometimes on saturdays (although this rarely happened).
A typical day for me would be to clock in a little before 5. I then would go to the cashier working the shift before me and switch places. I would log in and check if everything is alright and then start my day. Most fridays were quite slow. I would often leave the counter and help fold clothing in the store. I did have to watch the check out to see if there were any costumers coming that way. I would also be the person to answer the phone if someone called, and to call costumers if they had ordered clothing and could pick them up at the store.
Usually around 8:45 we would slowly get ready to close the store. I would organise the counter and clean it. Then I would count the money, see if there were any mistakes, and then when the clock hit 9 o'clock, close the check out.
After that it's just a matter of
learning a lot about how to work in a store and how to work with people you don't know
The hours I worked were quite boring and not at all challenging
